We’ve come a long way together
But we’re just getting started!
Hi!
Over this week, I’ve taken a few moments to myself to consider how far T2B has come in a year.
And it’s pretty remarkable!
Literally this time in 2023, several people had asked me about doing something at this past year’s JPM. I hunted for space at the last minute and whipped together our first T2Bmeet — our first-ever in-real-life gathering — in less than two weeks.
(That wasn’t the only thing I whipped up, as I ended up making a load of yogurt parfaits for the breakfast.)
At this point, we were two months post-launch and still defining what T2B should be.
But the demand for in-person networking at JPM made this clear – biopharma communicators needed, and wanted, community.
I began asking myself:
How could I succeed?
What was I going to offer to make people see T2B was the platform, the forum, the community they’d always needed (but maybe didn’t know they needed… )?
And why was this more important now than ever?
So, over the course of this year, I did what we do best in our industry: I experimented. I hosted lots of different kinds of events, invited speakers with diverse backgrounds, and even tried my hand at selfie videos (I’m still not comfortable in front of the camera, believe it or not!).
And I’m proud to see the results: The proof of concept is our community, itself! What started on Slack online has now grown to a full-blown membership platform providing events, resources, and educational opportunities to biopharma comms pros of all kinds from around the globe. One of our members even called T2B a “new twist on professional associations.” Love that.
And what was really surprising to me was how many senior communicators have joined us. I thought it might be the other way around.
Of course, we welcome folks at all stages in their careers, but from the beginning, about half of our membership has had over 15 years of experience, and collectively, 2/3 of the membership has over a decade of experience.
Our mission from day 1 has been to create community by cultivating connections and conversations.
And with T2B’s 2024 membership now at close to 800 (with a growth rate nearly 450%) the need for those connections is ever more apparent.
With an uncertain political environment, mis-, dis-, and mal-information lurking in every corner, the beginnings of unprecedented technological shifts with AI, and a huge trust problem with our industry…
…it’s our community’s time to shine.
