Stepping into our power

In recognition of IWD

Hi!

Women’s History Month is here, and Saturday, March 8th, is International Women’s Day (IWD).

This year, the IWD theme is “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” As part of that, I’d like the T2B community to step into our power.

And this IWD, I’ll be making the first moves toward stepping into – and recognizing – my power.

My T2B journey so far has challenged me and pushed me in ways I didn’t know were possible. I’m humbled every time someone calls me a visionary or inspiring, but I don’t feel like either of those things most of the time.

Of course, I’m hugely proud of what we’ve accomplished together, but alongside the highest of the highs, I’ve also experienced the lowest of the lows in getting to where we are now.

Self-doubt. Fear. And even small-business issues like cash flow.

It’s easy to say, “I could be stronger.” “I could be better.” “I could have gone farther.” But it’s harder to accept yourself (myself!) and give yourself grace.

So, this is me stepping into my power and accepting that this is what I can do now, today. And that’s enough.

Someday, I’ll have the courage to share more about what has made me who I am, but one thing I can tell you for certain right now is that I would be nowhere without the women in my life.

They hold my hand and tell me I’m strong.

Cheer me on and tell me how proud they are of me.

Bring me tissues to dry my tears and sit with me when I want to give up.

Love me for who I am (and who I’m not).

Whether you identify as a woman or are an advocate, I invite you to give yourself permission to just be. To allow those in your life who care about you to give you their love and support – and to have the humility to accept it.
