Say Hello to Nirel 👋

Scientist; yoga instructor; friend of T2B!

Hi!

You all know that one can’t truly understand what it’s like to work in biopharma unless you’ve done it yourself.

The nuances, the red tape, the humbling experience of telling patient stories: all areas we work across daily, but that would probably seem alien to communicators in other sectors.

So, when I’m planning events for T2B, I always make sure I seek out guests who really get the life science landscape or have a unique outside viewpoint to offer.

Meet Nirel, our instructor for the Zen Before JPM event, which is coming up on Sunday, January 12th, (Divine Yoga Studio, San Francisco, California, 3-5 p.m. PT).

Nirel and I met at a local yoga class, and I was instantly drawn to her when I spotted that she was wearing a t-shirt from a local biotech company. Classic industry swag!

Not only is she a yogi, Nirel is also a bioprocessing scientist.

So she really gets our industry. She understands that biopharma is a high-pressure, reactive space and that it can sometimes feel like we’re not making headway. She knows how it feels when experiments and work we put our heart and soul into don’t go as planned, and why we need to recognize that we’re enough and it can be OK to let it go. . .

And that’s because she’s been there herself.

Through her personal journey with impostor syndrome, mental fatigue, burnout, and depression, Nirel discovered that wellness extends far beyond just getting enough sleep each night.

Yoga helped her discover the multi-faceted nature of wellbeing and the importance of the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit – both at home and work.

Now, Nirel integrates that holistic philosophy into her career as a scientist, and she’s on a quest to help others do the same.

Which is exactly what she’ll be doing at our Zen event!

I understand how stressful JPM week can be; it's hugely productive, but stressful, no doubt!

So, Nirel will take us through a light yoga and stretching session. It’ll be the perfect opportunity to chill out and refresh your brain before the JPM chaos begins (and you’ll learn some relaxation and breathing techniques you can use during the conference if needed!).

Book your space soon, as there are just a few spots available. And with this session being open to local T2Bers (not only those heading to the city for JPM), those spaces are sure to go quickly.

But if you can’t make it to this event, that’s OK. This is just the beginning of our 2025 programming.

Each event I’m lining up has its own specialized guest speakers, which I’ve carefully selected based on their experience and the value they can bring you all.

I’ll be releasing more info about our events for next year very soon. 👀
