A defining moment for our community
Hi!
After months of meticulous planning and with the backing of our event host FleishmanHillard and supporters AbbVie and HealthQuant, last week’s T2Bmeet @ JPM reception felt like a real defining moment for our community.
(One of TWO such moments, with the launch of T2B Pro happening just a couple of days later.)
When I asked people in the room who’d been with us at our 2024 reception, only a few people put their hands up.
In fact, this time last year, the whole T2B community was about the same size as the number of attendees we had at last Monday’s get-together – a true testament to how our community has grown and evolved over the last 12 months.
My favorite moments from the evening
A standout moment from the reception was hearing two communicators from different countries meet for the first time. Within just a few minutes, they were sharing advice on what to do regarding messaging when a clinical trial readout is not one of the several – sometimes many! – scenarios that you’d planned for. You’d not get that level of nuanced conversation at a generic networking event, and it made me so nerdily happy!
I also heard several conversations about how, despite our value as communicators being more acknowledged now than in the past, we still have an inordinate amount of work to do to educate and change the perception among internal business partners and company leadership (generally speaking). That’s something that T2B will continue to work alongside you to effect change.
Plus, personally, I was finally able to meet a particular Ph.D. student who’s been really involved in T2B as she explores a career in comms beyond the lab. I immediately introduced her to three incredible communicators from different backgrounds who welcomed her unquestionably and asked what they could do to support her.
The T2B Team was so touched that, despite folks having lots of meetings to go to, they still made time to come and connect with our community. One communicator actually set up their executive with a WSJ reporter so she could get away for a few minutes to drop into the reception – win-win!
And, after my very first Waymo ride (that seemed to be all the rage this year), we and members of our ad board toasted to the movement that T2B has become.
We’ve collected together our photos from the night – please take a look through them and see if you can spot yourself!
Don’t forget that if you came to the event, you can post about it (including any of the photos linked above) and tag us on LinkedIn for a chance to win a pair of box tickets for a Giants game of your choice, courtesy of our host, FleishmanHillard.
From us here at T2B, thank you so much for your support in the first few weeks of 2025 – and if you couldn’t make it to the reception this time round, we really hope we’ll see you at another meetup in the near future.
